Free Market for Electric Power

NEGOTIATE YOUR ACQUISITION OF ELECTRIC POWER DIRECTLY WITH FOCUS ENERGIA.

WHAT DOES FREE MARKET FOR ELECTRIC POWER MEAN?

It is the market where the consumers negotiate the acquisition of electric power directly with generators or traders, without the obligation of purchasing of a tariff regulated by the National Electric Power Agency (ANEEL), in the event of energy supplied by distribution concessionaires. Thus, there are two energy contracting environments in Brazil: the free and the regulated environment. In the event of the free market, the purchase is carried out by means of bilateral contracts with free consumers and generators or traders. On the other hand, in the regulated market, the purchase is carried out by means of contracts resulting from auctions with distributors (regulated consumers).

Due to the fact that Brazilian electrical system is interconnected, the agents can establish energy contracts between any regions of the country. The system is divided into four submarkets, South, North, Southeast/Midwest and Northeast.

The main advantage of the free market for electric power is the possibility that the consumer has of choosing, among the different types of contract, the one that best supplies its needs and meets its consumption characteristics.
